As a team they have sailed over 200,000 sea miles each, including the Pacific coast of Mexico for seven years, running a 104’ commercial charter catamaran in Alaska for five years, two trips to the Galapagos, three Atlantic crossings, and many loops around the South Pacific working on private yachts, charter boats and sailing their own 50ft gaff-rigged steel ketch.
In 2007 Scott and Allison were critical members of ‘Team Earthrace’ where they helped set multiple fastest ocean crossing speedboat records and were lucky enough to be involved in the setting of the ‘UIM Round The World Speedboat Record’ that still stands at 60 days, shattering the old record by over 14 days.
Scott is a noted author with over ten books to his credit including one on underwater photography with inexpensive point and shoot cameras. He enjoys sharing his wide knowledge of sailing, travel destinations and photography with guests. Add in Allison’s gentle manner, delicious cuisine and attention to comfort and it’s easy to understand why so many guests come back to sail with this remarkable team again and again.
Experience
Captain Scott started his sailing career working as a salvage diver on the US West coast and bought his first sailboat, a home built project, in 1986. At just 22 years old he sailed into Sausalito, north of San Francisco, where he met Allison Thompson. She grew up in Belvedere, CA. Allison grew up sailing with her father on San Francisco bay. She helped out with her fathers offshore sailing school, and prepared meals for the liveaboard students. Allison took over and lived aboard a converted tugboat her father had begun working on while serving as Project Coordinator for Galilee Harbor, a non-profit working waterfront community in Sausalito, CA. Scott and Allison met at a Christmas party on his boat at Galilee Harbor. He told her his dream of making a life on the sea and sailing away into the sunset. It was love at first sight and the two have been inseparable for over 25 years ever since.
